A six month old is recovering in a local hospital after she was ejected from a car--despite the fact that she was secured inside the car seat.

The accident occurred around 7:30 on Sunday morning when her mother lost control of her Buick Regal sedan on highway 121. The car ran into a utility pole and flipped four times!

That's when the baby was thrown from the car. Ms. Florez was seriously injured and her three year old who was also in the car suffered from minor injuries. Witnesses say the baby felw at least 15 feet before landing on the pavement.

Megan Moon, an emergency room nurse at John Peter Smith Hospital saw the whole incident. She was the first to get to the baby, who was still alive, despite receiving a head injury.

The police say that Florez probably fell asleep at the wheel after she dropped her mother off at work. Both she and the baby are in critical condition at the current time. WFAA news 8 checked for recalls on the car seat but none were found.
