Jeff RasanskyOctober 28, 2008 5:39 PMAn accident occurred on Sunday just outside of Kilgor on Highway 31 east. Three people were killed and two others remain in serious condition.
Francisco Cox, 24, Jamie Lee Watkins, 24 and Prentis Leon Booth, 20 were pronounced dead at the scene of the crime after their Chevrolet Caprice was struck head-on by the Dodge pickup that was driven by 37-year old Wesley Robert Jones of Lewisville.
According to Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper Jean Dark, James Ammons was traveling west in an eastbound lane when his truck struck a Honda Accord driven by Denishia Poole. She stopped her car after the crash but Jones continued to drive the wrong direction down the highway. Another driver was able to swerve out of the way in time, but his car was hit by debris from the first crash.
The pickup then crashed head on into the Chevrolet Caprice killing the three young men and injuring Tommy Crump.
Jones and Crump were listed in serious condition earlier Monday evening.
So far alcohol and drugs have not been ruled out as a factor in the wreck.
