Minor neck injuries kept Texas Rangers third-baseman Hank Blalock out of the Spring Training lineup for the March 4 game against the Diamondbacks. Blalock's vehicle, a Cadillac Escalade, was rear-ended at an intersection early afternoon Monday, March 3, as he and his wife Misty and 3-year-old son Trey were returning from lunch. Though airbags did not deploy and the family was taken to the hospital, no one was seriously injured. Slated to be the Rangers' designated hitter for the game, team manager Ron Washington changed his mind to give Blalock some time to recover from soreness and whiplash.
