A man who regularly transports a replication of the Liberty Bell and the Ten Commandments stone tablets to the funerals of area veterans was injured Sunday night in a Dallas suburb when his truck was struck by a sport utility vehicle (SUV). He had apparently stopped on the westbound shoulder of a Highway 121 access road to strap the objects to the trailer when a suburbun hit the truck. Investigation is underway to determine whether alcohol and/or speed were factors in the 10:20 p.m. crash.

Both drivers were taken to the John Peter Smith Hospital; the truck's driver was taken by helicopter. Accidents can happen whether you are driving at the posted speed on the highway or stopped on the side of the road. Often, the incidents are the result of wreckless driving, speeding, alcohol or driver fatigue and could have been avoided. If you have been injured in a motor vehicle or truck accident, contact a personal injury attorney to see if you have a case.
